I was not fond of reward cards or anything similar two or three years back. I find it very time consuming and a bit awkward having people see me handling a rewards or loyalty card to a teller or a cashier. It is not manly, as I tell myself, and besides, i know exactly the price I am buying for.
So what got me hooked lately into rewards habit is the simple thought that “merchants actually offers me a discount” but in a very different way. If I do not grab that opportunity, then I would have to pay for the product at a rate that is more favorable to the company or to the merchant I am buying at.
But why do companies nowadays favors the use rewards system? It all boils down to the market competitions, they have to rely not on a single transaction but to a repetitive transactions that can create continuous buying of their products or services by their clients, so instead of them slicing the price outright, they resorted to rewarding their customers who buys repetitively.
So what Rewards card are good for you? Well that would depend on what you basically buy on a daily or repetitive loop. You can either have one for groceries, medicines, for travel, for coffee and for your occasional visits for your favorite restaurant. Rewards card nowadays comes in various forms like a card type, a qr code type or a digital type. I have both the card type and the digital type but prefers the digital rewards card that can be stored on our mobile phones which is more convenient to present rather than having to look into you wallet.

1. CLIQQ REWARDS
Cliqq Reward has become part of my life since i often buy something at #711 stores for loads, breakfast, and for almost anything i can think of. With Cliqq rewards your accumulated points can then be used to buy something from 711. 1 cliqq point is equal to 1 peso. to get the cliqq rewards, you either go for the card type which you can have from the store ( i am not sure it its free or not). you can also download the free cliqq rewards app from playstore or app stores just search for Cliqq rewards and register from there, you will et your unique barcode number which you need the cashier to scan before payments so that points will be computed against your account. there are many features of the Cliqq App but we will discuss that more on the next article.

2. Robinsons Reward
Robinsons Reward is a loyalty program where clients can earn and redeem points through purchased from participating Robinsons retail stores. download it via iOS app store or Android Playstore. Different retail stores have different point equivalents.
Every Php 400 = 1 Point in Robinsons Supermarket, Robinsons Selections, Robinsons Easymart, Robinsons Appliances, Robinsons Builders and Home Plus.
Every Php200 = 1Point in Robinsons Department Store, Toys “R” Us, Daiso Japan, Arcova, Handyman, Pet Lovers Center, Topshop, Topman, Dorothy Perkins, Burton Menswear, Warehouse and Miss Selfridge
Every Php200 = 1Point in Selected branches of Shiseido, Benefit and Elizabeth Arden. For other places kindly refer to the apps FAQ

3. STARBUCKS REWARDS
Starbucks Rewards Earns you 1 star every time you purchase any handcrafted beverages of your choice, a 250 gram bag of whole bean coffee or a Teavana package tea.
You can redeem a Grande beverage for every 12 stars you collected. Earn a 250g whole bean coffee or Teavana package for every 10 whole bean or teavana you collect.

4. PAG IBIG LOYALTY PLUS CARD
The Pag-IBIG Loyalty Card Plus allows you to enjoy exclusive discounts and rewards on your grocery purchases, tuition fee, hospital bills, fuel expenses, restaurant bills and many more from our more than 300 partner-establishments nationwide. And now, you can also use it as a cash card where you may conveniently receive your Pag-IBIG Multi-Purpose Loan (MPL) proceeds, MP2 Savings dividends, and other benefits.
The loyalty card plus is only available to all active Pag Ibig Fund members. to apply, simply go to your nearest pag ibig branch and fill up the application form, pay Php 125 at the cashier and have your biometrics taken. Wait for a couple of minutes and claim your card. Make sure you also get the PIN Mailer where you can see your personal identification number.

There are numerous rewards/loyalty cards and digital apps available to consumers here in the Philippines, we must therefore maximized its usage since we are all consumers who buys necessities for our daily lives. Rewards Cards, if maintained properly can drastically improve our spending so we can allocate more of our hard earned money into savings or investment that can pave a better way for our future.
